I found a new grooming tool that I am very excited about. It costs less than $10, the horses love to feel it, and it works better at many things than many of my other brushes. It's called..........burlap.
Call it fancy and it's 'cactus cloth'. Some tack shops sell a stiff square foot of it for about $9. Then I got a 40' roll of it at the tractor supply for $7. I cut pieces that are easy to handle (many brushes make my wrists sore), rub the horses, and either rinse it or throw it out and cut another piece. It massages, breaks up dried clay, is gentle on legs, perfect on faces, and shines them right up when it's a little damp. I guess it's even biodegradable.
Best practice!
