Escudo II: by Espri (Eiger I) out of Athene (Arkansas)

Ludi & Ehren have the same stallion, Escudo II, for their father.  They were born a week apart on the same farm, and lived together for their first two years.  They went to their breed inspection together.  Their breeder tells me they were very close and played constantly.

Their sire was highly regarded for passing on a stylish and functional body shape, a pretty face, and an engaging temperament.  Lud's been with me 4 years longer than Ehren, but I have to say, I thought they'd be more similar in personality and physiology.

Ehren: August 2015

In their equine lives, Ehren is a calm but fun trail ride who loves to explore, either alone or with new friends.  I've only taken him out 3 times this year, but I can already tell that's his way.  His dressage is challenging, and his jumping will take some time to develop, but that makes him fascinating, and he is always eager and consistent.  He is thin-skinned and lean, with great stamina and a talented canter.

Ludi has days where trail riding is better traded for safer ring work, and while I'll spare you further praise (right now) about his dressage, he's just a little more opinionated in his opinions.  Lud is a bug-proof easy keeper and he sweats a lot.  When we canter, I really have to keep my 'foot on the gas', but he seems to naturally enjoy jumping.

If these guys were your boyfriends and you were having a bad day, Ehren would bring you ice cream and snuggle with you on the couch.  Ludi would wear something silly and tease you about being a mope until you laughed.

These boys take their turns being my favorite, and I guess that's what they have in common.  That, and the warning sound of their swishy tails right before some exuberance under saddle!
